Short CV

 

Natalia Kotsani is a graduate of the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences of NTUA and a PhD candidate in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA, under the supervision of Prof. D. Fotakis. She completed the Masters Degree Program «Jazz Music Performance and New Technologies» of UOA, in 2019, and has since been in the team of Scientific Associates of the Music Acoustic and Technology Laboratory (LabMAT) of UOA. She studied singing techniques and vocal performance with E. Kylpasi, M. Symeonidou (National Conservatory of Greece) and E. Paspala,  music theory with Ch. Kanas (Athens Conservatoire), classical piano with D. Mallouchos (Athens Conservatory) and jazz piano with S. Lantsias. Since 2009 she has been an active musician and vocalist of the world music scene, having many concerts in Greece and abroad as well as numerous collaborations and two personal albums. Since 2011 she is a member of the band encardia. From 2010 to 2013 she was a research associate at the Herakleidon Museum in Athens, in the “Art & Mathematics” educational program, designing topics and giving interactive presentations to students of all levels. Her research interests, as a member of the Computation and Reasoning Lab of NTUA, lie in the intersection of Music Information Retrieval, Computational Ethnomusicology, Machine Learning Theory, Theoretical Computer Science and Algorithms. She is collaborating with Artificial Intelligence Lab on research projects about Computational Ethnomusicology and Musical Information Retrieval through the use of Machine Learning techniques.
